DERBYSHIRE, UK – 5 April 2023 – A team bringing together people from across the business planned a hike across the three highest peaks in Derbyshire to raise money for their Local Community Partner, Alfreton Park School.

A number of staff from the Senior Management Team and across both A1 Comms and Yappl took on the Derbyshire Three Peaks Challenge on the 31st of March 2023, raising money for the school as part of the commitment made by the company at its 25th Anniversary Celebrations back in November 2022.

Alfreton Park School is a school for children aged 2 to 19 with moderate to severe learning and physical difficulties and is operated by a passionate and caring team who are dedicated to offering pupils life-enhancing opportunities. However, much of the school’s funds have historically come from fundraising and grant applications, which presents additional challenges for staff and students.

As part of A1 Comms’ partnership with the school, members of staff from across the company are entitled to take a day of paid Volunteers’ Leave to help raise important funds for the school’s Deer Shed Project, which A1 Comms is aiming to add a £5k contribution to by the end of the year. Every penny raised by staff as part of the Derbyshire Three Peaks Challenge and via other fundraising efforts across the year will be matched by A1 Comms.

“As a proud Derbyshire company now in our 26th year in business, we decided there was no more appropriate way to raise money for our community partner than by scaling the three highest peaks in our home county,” said Steve Heald, Managing Director at A1 Comms.

“The weather wasn’t on our side, which made the experience a challenging one – but even more worthwhile. And we made some fantastic memories along the way, all for a brilliant cause. It was hard work, but absolutely worth it, and I couldn’t be prouder of our team for making it to the end.”

Also taking part in the challenge were Pete O’Connell from Purchasing and Logistics, Neirin Millard and Tom Phelan from the Digital Team, Lyndsay Neale from Yappl, and Malika Williams, Steven Lowe and Emily Burnett from Customer Service.

Parties interested in learning more about the challenge or donating to the cause can do so via GoFundMe.
