DERBYSHIRE, UK – 08 August 2022 – The highest riser in the Top 40, the company has climbed 10 places since the last list in 2021.
A1 Comms, a mobile communications specialist based in Alfreton, Derbyshire, has been ranked as the 35th best business in the Derby Telegraph’s Top 200 Businesses 2022.
Based on data gathered by the University of Derby Business School, the ranking takes into consideration the turnover of all active private sector businesses across the county. A1 Comms’ achievement puts them 10 places higher than the last published list, where they were ranked 45th out of 200.
Managing Director, Steve Heald attributed the sustained growth and increased turnover to the success of the business’ first TV ad campaign through its Affordable Mobiles brand, in addition to better value mobile offers with leading network providers Three, O2 and Vodafone, as well as an excellent online retail model.

A1 Comms’ Top 35 ranking position puts the business alongside household names such as Rolls Royce, Toyota, and the University of Derby, as well as contributing to their number 89 ranking on the East Midlands Top 500 Companies league table – up 38 places since 2021.
Now in its 25th year of business, the company continues to grow and is currently recruiting new team members at its Darley Abbey and Alfreton sites. Further committing to innovation, the business has recently launched Ka-Ching, which helps customers to unlock value and responsibly recycle their old or unwanted mobile phones.
